Pediatric Chiropractic
The process of birth, even under most natural and best conditions, is a lot for mom and baby. During the pushing stage of labor, the spine, particularly the neck, is compressed as the baby makes his/her way down the birth canal. This act of compression can cause the small bones of the spine and cranium to be pushed out of natural alignment. This causes vertebral subluxation and disruption in the nerve system. Newborns should be checked soon after birth by your chiropractor.

As your baby develops by holding up their head, crawling, and taking their first few steps, this places stress on a child's spine. Not to mention the inevitable tumbles and falls. During this time of growth and exploration, your child's spine needs to be examined by a chiropractor for subluxations. Getting checked frequently by a chiropractor ensures the best opportunity for your child to grow and develop in a greater state of health.

With pediatric care, we apply very gentle and specific adjustments to guide the vertebrae into the right position and restore normal nerve system function.

Activator Methods™
-
This is a device that involves using a spring-loaded instrument to deliver a very gentle but also specific force on a joint.
-
There is no joint popping or manual twisting involved with this technique, which is one of the reasons why its great for infants and as they grow.
-
Activator technique is also great for any kind of extremity adjustments, acute pain patients, and is also great for adults.

Logan Basic
-
Practitioners of Logan Basic believe that the sacrum (base of the spine) can be stuck in a particular position preventing the normal flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from the sacrum up to the rest of the spine.
-
By working on the ligaments that control the sacrum, we can increase the CSF flow much like increasing the flow of a water fountain.
-
Adults and babies alike often report being able to sleep much better after a Logan Basic adjustment.
Craniosacral Therapy
-
Craniosacral therapy (CST) uses light touch to work on the cranial bones, more specifically addressing the cranial sutures and structures inside the cranium. We have this fluid called cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) that courses up and down the dural tube from cranium to sacrum 11-16 times a minute. Every time that fluid moves and courses through the cranium the cranial bones move very subtly into flexion and extension. Our head is moving all the time. Obviously as a baby so we can be born, so that we can grow and so we can sustain injury. CST helps to address any tension or misalignment that can be caused from birth or oral restrictions. A baby’s cranium is very pliable so the sooner the baby can receive care, the better outcome baby can have.
-
CST is great for babies who have been diagnosed with oral restrictions (tongue/lip ties), torticollis and plagiocephaly (mis-shapen head) to name a few. If you want to learn more about how CST can help with oral restrictions read more HERE.
